My works mainly include oil painting, and also video, device and collage. With the development of science and technology and the electronic products being popular, people are more intended to store their memory through electrical ways, and the memory that left in our brain is blurring as time passes by. What we will get in the end? Can we keep our memory on some still life? So my major direction is to explore the in-depth connection between imagination and memory as well as the truth and unreality, absence and retention, and decrease and increase of them.

 

I used a lot of different-sized wood blocks and overlaid different low-purity colors on the wood blocks. The looming rough and sharp lines were hidden under different color pieces, exhibiting an illusion that arousing audience’s imagination. These elements for my painting come from mountains, rivers, clouds, air, color of light, cups, bowls, roofs, walls, dust on bottle, old stuff from second-hand market, old lady in fluorescent clothing, man injecting drugs in the street, seen and heard when I was travelling between different cities, etc. All that I have seen were presented in my works in different forms, such as extracted shapes, awkward lines, and layers of transparent colors, which were re-organized and rationally treated.
