One That Holds Everything

Professional skills:

organisational skills, communicate skills, research skills.

This show presented the works of 28 artists. Held in Crypt Gallery, it is a show that holds everything. The site of the show is very special. Crypt Gallery used to be the basement of St. Pancras. During war time, this place was used as air-raid shelter and refuge. Now it is a gallery.

When I was on the scene, white space had gone away. We must create a work with this place as the background. 28 artists from different areas with different cultural backgrounds were encouraged to explore new media and unfamiliar means of expression to accomplish this special show.

As a team, we worked together on the show. Meetings were carried out in advance. Owing to excellent planning, technology, publicity, capital, logistics, investigations, invigilation, as well as the joint efforts of PV team, the show is very successful and a lot of visitors showed.

17m2

Professional skills:

communicate skills, collaborative skills

This show is organized by 20 students from Wimbledon College of Art. The show was held in a 17m2 space in High Holborn. So we need to present different styles of works in a limited space and keep the works interrelated. In fact, the show has gained good results.

During this show, I was responsible for the private view work and provided good services for the opening party of the show. I worked with Ting Ting and Anu together. Thanks to this show, my communication ability and collaboration ability were improved a lot.

Life in a Shoe Box

Professional skills:

problem solving capabilities, communicate skills.

This show is made by 31 students from Wimbledon College of Art. It mainly concerns the phenomenon of urban life, limited housing of London, and life in narrow space, etc. We need to finish our works in a limited space (just like a shoe box), and then combine the boxes into a installation.

We are divided into different groups and are responsible for different work. My work in this show is invigilation. During this period, we invigilated the show room and communicated with visitors. We found that many visitors liked our works, and we would introduce the in-depth meaning of these works. However, as my oral English was not good enough, the communication with visitors was not very smooth. Meanwhile, I also noted that I am not very familiar with few works. So I think I need to improve my communication skills. But I practiced a lot during this show.

Corridor Exhibition

Professional skills:

problem solving capabilities, communicate skills, curating skills.

At the beginning of this semester, Jenny, Constatino and I formed a group. We worked together to complete the corridor exhibition. Two weeks before the start of the exhibition, we had been discussing how to arrange this corridor and how to present our works, so that our works, which had different styles, could complement each other in the same small space. We were happy in the whole process, as we shared out the work and cooperated with one another. While putting forward our own ideas, we compromised for the entire visual effects. On the exhibition day, we encountered some problems and challenges. As our works were far too different, we had made massive attempts to place them harmoniously in a space, while maintaining their own artistic styles and finally achieving the best visual effects in the corridor.

Through this practice, my curatorial ability has been improved. I have never done this before. Moreover, my team cohesion has been strengthened, and I learn that communication and cooperation are very important.
